Plus size is not niche

Plus size is not a niche market like we are made to believe. 70% of the US population is plus size. The average American woman is 5’3, and a size 18.

So why is it that when we speak up about the issues we have with finding clothes, we’re told to just be happy with what few options we do have, and are expected to change our bodies to fit the clothes, rather than have clothes made to fit our bodies?

Some brands will carry an xl, and claim that means they cater to plus size. Other brands will stop at 3x but have the nerve to say they’re “for every body”.

People like me, who wear a size 28, can’t shop at most clothing stores. So even as a plus size model, I’m “too fat” for my field.
